A millennial fight for effective change. The hidden relationship between power and values

The article addresses issues related to the governance structure and the hidden relationship between values and power, on which it is based. Through sociological and historical analysis, the concept of the government legitimacy and its sources of power are investigated. The reconstruction of events that occurred on three different continents, from theocratic cities to the fundamental role of science, illustrates how the process of psychological association inherent to every human being has influenced sociological evolution. By rediscovering the importance of the value system, it is demonstrated how a discrepancy between values and power can lead to a crisis of government. Finally, it highlights the fundamental role of the education system to instil an aptitude for analytical critical thinking in order to fight ideological drifts and misinformation at the origin of extremist movements that endanger democracy.

L’articolo affronta le questioni legate alla struttura di governo sociale e alla relazione nascosta sulla quale si fonda. Tramite un’analisi sociologica e storica si approfondisce il concetto di legittimità di governo e delle sue fonti di potere. La ricostruzione di eventi accaduti in tre diversi continenti, dalle città teocratiche al ruolo fondamentale della scienza, illustra come processo di associazione psicologica presente in ogni uomo abbia influenzato l’evoluzione sociologica. Riscoprendo l’importanza del sistema valoriale, si dimostra come una discrepanza tra valori e potere possa portare ad una crisi di governo. In fine, si sottolinea il ruolo fondamentale del sistema educativo, nel diffondere un’attitudine al pensiero critico analitico per combattere derive ideologiche e disinformazione all’origine di movimenti estremisti che mettono in pericolo la democrazia.
